Sharing in social media is the first option.

But, there are also many others that will help to drive traffic to your site and to increase readership.

Here are a few of those options:

  1. Write the blog once, but use it in several different ways, e.g., if it’s a “tips” blog, take those tips and make them into a PowerPoint slide deck, which can then be saved as a video. Post the video on your YouTube channel or website. Then share them in social media.
  2. Post the blog content on LinkedIn’s Long-Form posts, which is connected to your profile. Once the piece is published it gets shared with all your connections. Also, post a link to that content in groups you’re a part of.
  3. Leverage news aggregator sources, like Tumblr, Reddit, and others, to re-post that content and to reach those who use that source as a news channel.
  4. Ensure you’re using the correct hashtags to draw in your audience. Tip: Research hashtags before using them to make sure the content isn’t part of a larger conversation you don’t want to be part of. Research tools include Hashtagify.me, Keyhole, Twubs, Tweet Binder, RebelMouse, Tagboard, SocialAlert, and RiteTag.
  5. Include blog snippets in emails you sent to clients. For example, if you have a monthly newsletter, rather than putting the whole story in it, add a catchy headline and little copy with a link to the blog article.
  6. Add a call to action at the bottom of the blog to encourage comments and sharing, which could morph into another blog article.
  7. Create a downloadable element on the blog article to get people to engage with the content. Be sure to create a form to capture information from those who download the content. Then add them to your email list.

There are many other things a business owner could do with a blog, such as infographics, slide decks, speaking points, podcasts, webinars, and more. Of course, using a scheduling tool, like HootSuite, to post to social media is very helpful as well.
