Buh-Bye Google My Business—What you need to know!

Did you hear? As of July 2022, the door slammed shut for the Google My Business app. If you prefer to manage your profile on a mobile device, you will do so on two different apps—Google Maps and Google Search.

On a desktop your Google My Business profile tool’s name changed to Google Business Profile Manager.

What does this mean for my company account and profile?

Fortunately for companies, accounts can continue to manage their bulk account profiles on Google Business Profile Manager using a desktop.

However, if you used a mobile device in the past to update your profile, you will need the Google Maps mobile app and Google Search mobile app. Use your existing Google Business login to find your business profile. If you don’t know your profile login, contact Google for assistance.

Updating via the Google Search App

To access your Google business account on the Google Search App, simply:

  1. Download the Google Search app using a mobile device.
  2. Search for your business.
  3. You’ll need your Google My Business account login once you find it.
  4. Click on “You manage this profile.”
  5. Make adjustments to the information.

Updating via the Google Maps App

  1. Download the Google Maps app using a mobile device.
  2. Search for your business. In the map section, search for the business name where you would enter an address.
  3. You’ll need your Google My Business account login once you find it.
  4. Click on “You manage this profile.”
  5. Make adjustments to the information.

Benefits of a Google My Business Account

Whether you desire foot traffic or virtual traffic, a Google Business Profile is an excellent search referral tool. A business profile helps people find your business when looking for a local product or service provider.

Not only does it help searchers find your location, it also improves your local search engine ranking.

Finally, because voice search is so popular, having your business listed on Google’s apps delivers real-time information to people searching for what you sell.
