If you offer payroll services at your firm, you probably get the Federal Labor Law Posting posters that you can share with clients for free.

You could monetize that free service for a low cost and small return on investment for non clients.

Consider sharing information about the posters with your Chamber of Commerce colleagues, or other networks your involved with, and offer them the first poster for free. If they are already a client, they will continue to get them for free. However, if they are not a client, for a small fee you can offer them a monthly subscription to receive the posters. They can register on your website and will receive follow-up marketing materials to help convert them to a client.

Here’s how.

  1. Create a form landing page on your website site to collect name, company, address, phone, email, and payment method.** Include a checkbox to join your email mailing list. Remember to boast the benefits of the service, such as avoiding hefty fines and lawsuits. Also include the prices of a monthly, quarterly, or annual subscription, whichever works best for your firm.
  2. Feature a small poster image (not printable) on the site, but not as a download because you don’t want to give it away without collecting information. An alert will be sent to an identified staff member when the form is completed and an email will be sent to the requester with the printer-friendly poster. A database of all names collected should also be available on the website or via email.
  3. Use the names database to send a postcard pitching other payroll services.

In addition to the form page, consider posting a blog article about higher fines and what can happen if an employer fails to post the information. Then link to the poster subscription club page with a good call to action, such as “Minimize exposure to posting compliance liability. Join our Poster Club today!” Share information about the blog post on social media and other marketing channels you use.

You can use this process for other free or low-cost services your firm offers. It’s a great way to create leads, to generate a small amount of revenue, and to keep your brand name top of mind.
